Vice President Harris started the week on Monday, May 24, with a meeting on expanding high-speed internet access.
Expanding broadband availability is a key component of the American Jobs Plan, the administration’s infrastructure proposal. From Rev’s transcript of the event:
….let’s talk about what we need to do to remove the barriers to access. 42 million Americans live in areas without reliable broadband. One in three Americans who live in rural areas and tribal lands do not have access to broadband. And we know that these Americans are not alone.
She wore a grey suit and grey charmeuse top that remain unidentified. They were first noted back on May 6 when the VP paired the suit with a soft pink knit top, shown below.
On the 24th, Ms. Harris accessorized with the oft-seen Irene Neuwirth Double Strand necklace and her gold-bordered mabé pearl earrings, also seen on May 6.
And she wore what appears to be her Manolo Blahnik ‘Lisa’ almond-toe pumps in black patent leather, shown below as worn on another occasion.
Tuesday, May 25, the Vice President swore in Kristen Clarke, the Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights.
In these photos you also see Ms. Clarke’s mother, Pansy Clarke.
Also on Tuesday, the Vice President and President met with George Floyd’s family on the one-year anniversary of his death.
From the President’s remarks:
Although it has been one year since their beloved brother and father was murdered, for the family – for any family experiencing a profound loss – the first year can still feel like they got the news a few seconds ago. And they’ve had to relive that pain and grief each and every time those horrific nine minutes and 29 seconds have been replayed.
Here you see the Vice President with Mr. Floyd’s six-year-old daughter, Gianna. Ms. Harris posted a photo on social media with the caption, “For Gianna, and all those families who have grieved the untimely loss of a loved one, Congress needs to act.”
Recording artist Lil Baby also met with the Vice President on Tuesday, sharing photos on his Instagram. BET reports, “The rapper has maintained close contact with the Floyd family and threw a surprise birthday party for Floyd’s daughter in Gianna in December. Lil Baby reportedly funded the celebration.”
The Vice President wore a black suit with peak lapels, three flap pockets, one jetted breast pocket, and double back vents. Beneath the jacket, she was in a dark brown scoop neck top. She also looked to be wearing her Manolo Blahnik Lisa pumps again with the jewelry shown for Monday’s engagements.
On Wednesday, the 26th, Vice President Harris chaired a bipartisan broadband meeting.
Above, you see Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) in a blue suit. From the Duluth News Tribune: “Minnesota’s senior U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Democrats and Republicans ‘aren’t that far apart’ on a broadband infrastructure deal after a Wednesday, May 26, meeting at the White House with bipartisan members of Congress and Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Ms. Harris is wearing an unidentified black suit and dark top. She had on her Irene Neuwirth Medium Classic Link Necklace ($10,140) and Medium Classic Stud Earrings in 18k rose gold ($1910).
Thursday, May 27, the Vice President met with CEOs of companies and organizations that announced commitments to invest in the Northern Triangle region (Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador).
The companies pledged to support “inclusive economic development in the Northern Triangle” as part of a “strategy to address the root causes of migration by promoting economic opportunity.”
There are not enough photos to allow a determination as to the maker of her black suit. However, it does look like she wore her Cory Tee ($85) by L’Agence with the Irene Neuwirth necklace and mabé pearl earrings.
Friday, May 28, the Vice President delivered the commencement address at the Naval Academy’s graduation and commissioning ceremony. Here you see her being welcomed by Vice Admiral Sean Buck and Joanne Buck.
Below, Major Thomas Thalakottur, the Executive Secretary to Superintendent Vice Admiral Sean Buck, escorts the Vice President onto the rostrum.
It was a historic occasion: Ms. Harris was the first woman to address graduates in the 175-year history of the academy.
She also presented diplomas to the Class of 2021; there were 1,084 midshipmen in the ceremony at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
Now for our look at what the Vice President wore.
She was in her bespoke suit by Sergio Hudson with a white tie blouse we have seen previously that remains unidentified, Irene Neuwirth necklace, and mabé pearl earrings. The Vice President wisely added a set of heel protectors to her Manolo Blahnik Lisa 70mm heels, knowing she would be walking on grass.
The heel guards help keep your heels from sinking into the soil. One of the products available to minimize damage and help keep your shoes on your feet is by a company called Solemates. Their clear plastic protectors are offered at Amazon ($9.99), available in three sizes: narrow, classic, and wide. In addition to the clear pair shown below, they come in black.
Another option, the Heelettos, $12.99 for a set of two at Walmart.
A video released on Saturday shows the Vice President in conversation with the first Black woman Brigade Commander at the US Naval Academy. This looks like it was taped Wednesday, the 26th.
