Hello, and welcome to the first post in more than two years here at What Kamala Wore. I stopped posting in April of 2022 for a variety of reasons: a super-busy schedule, photo fees, and the sense that I had extensively reported on the Vice President’s working wardrobe. Having said that, we are now in the midst of a historic campaign that I think merits documentation. I have started posting in the Outfit Chronicle section of the site and have been updating the IDs portion of WKW. Going forward I plan to provide at least a weekly wrapup of the Vice President’s looks with more coverage as warranted for special events like this week’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
For my first post back, I thought we would look at what the Vice President has worn since she announced the selection of a running mate. We saw the Vice President and Governor Tim Walz daily during the first week of August as they launched their campaign. Following is a brief review of some of their appearances. We begin with August 6, when the Vice President and Governor made their first joint appearance as running mates at Temple University in Philadelphia.
For this occasion, Vice President Harris was in a pale peach or salmon blouse with a navy blue suit that very much looked like a custom design. She wore her Tiffany Hardwear South Sea Pearl Earrings.
The next day, the 7th, the duo traveled to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Detroit, Michigan for campaign rallies.
The Vice President was in a white blazer that I haven’t identified yet and a pair of Wide-Leg Tailored Trousers ($603) by a French label, Chloé.
She also wore her oft-seen double-strand pearl necklace by jeweler Irene Neuwirth and the Tiffany earrings seen at the Philadelphia rally. Below, you see a single-strand version of the necklace.
Flooding in North Carolina from Hurricane Debby prompted the cancellation of an appearance in North Carolina scheduled for Wednesday, the 8th. Instead, Vice President Harris and Governor Walz attended a campaign event at UAW Headquarters where the union announced its endorsement of the ticket.

Thursday, August 9, the candidates visited Arizona for a rally at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, a Phoenix suburb.
The Vice President was in a neutral suit and black top. The blazer featured three flap pockets and notched lapels, while the trousers were a straight cut. She also wore her Tiffany Hardwear Necklace, a piece used by opponents as a point of criticism (hypothetically because of its cost) to criticize her in online posts. The criticism does not appear to bother the Vice President as she continued wearing the necklace in the past two weeks.
Friday, the 10th, the Vice President and Governor attended a rally in Las Vegas. Vice President Harris chose another pantsuit with almost identical details to the suit seen in Arizona. My guess is that these are more bespoke designs made for Ms. Harris. I have reached out to several designers in an effort to determine who created the suits for the Vice President.
The Vice President attended a fundraiser at San Francisco’s Fairmont Hotel on Sunday, the 11th, returning to Washington that evening. We next saw Ms. Harris when she joined President Biden in Maryland, the first time we have seen the pair together since he exited the race for the presidency and endorsed the Vice President. The event marked the administration’s progress in lowering the cost of prescription drugs.
Vice President Harris was in another pantsuit featuring a three-pocket jacket, peaked lapels, and double back vent.
The next day, August 16, the Vice President traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina, for a campaign rally. She was in her oft-seen white tee and a light blue pantsuit.
Here you can better see the suit. Many readers may be familiar with the Vice President’s fondness for the “ticket pocket” (the third flap pocket located on the right side of the jacket), a design element that maintains a solid place in her wardrobe. The ‘additional’ pocket was originally created and used back in the late 1800s and early 1900s for a gentleman’s train ticket and some also used it for small amounts of money.

Vice President Harris was in a vibrant blue blazer, black trousers, and Chuck Taylor Platform Canvas ($75) sneakers.
Here you see Vice President Harris and the Second Gentleman with NFL great Jerome Bettis of the Pittsburgh Steelers, whose nickname was “The Bus.” You can also see the Vice President’s necklace by Irene Neuwirth.
The Medium Classic Link Necklace ($13960) showcases labradorite stones; it is part of the brand’s Classic Collection. The necklace is 18k rose gold in an 18″ length, with the stones in a scalloped coin-edge setting. The Medium Classic Studs ($2380) are also set in 18k rose gold.
I will leave you with this selfie of the candidates and their spouses, shared on social media by Governor Walz.
This is just a cursory overview of the past two weeks. I plan to have more detailed coverage of the convention this week.
