The Vice President sported a new (to us) coat when visiting Denver in March 2021.
Embed from Getty ImagesIt was a design from Ralph Lauren; the ‘Rosetta’ Lambswool-Cashmere coat ($3400 originally, most recently selling at $1845) is described as “a beautiful coloration, showcasing purple and cranberry tones.” The coat is made in America.

Another view.
Embed from Getty ImagesThe double-breasted style is made of a lambswool/cashmere blend and has a straight silhouette. It features three flap pockets, one welt pocket on the chest, peak lapels, and a center-back vent.

Here you can better see the details, including the two pockets on the coat’s right side. The third flapped pocket is referred to as a ‘ticket’ pocket, a feature we see on many of the Vice President’s blazers. It is also called a ‘cash’ or ‘change’ pocket in some instances, originally created to make it easy for those on horseback to access cash or coins to pay tolls. It evolved into a ticket pocket, and it is placed above the right hip pocket of a jacket or coat. It isn’t easy to see with this piece; I have lightened the photo and added arrows to show the second pocket on the right side.
