Designs from this family-owned label based in Switzerland have been a key part of the Vice President’s wardrobe for many years.
Worn by notable names like Michelle Obama, Christine Lagarde, Priyanka Chopra, and many others, Akris offers clean lines in upscale fabrics. The brand’s name was derived from the letters of founder Alice Kriemler-Schoch’s name, who launched the company in 1922. The label’s design director is Albert Kreimler, a third-generation family member. Akris Punto, a sportier, more relaxed collection, was launched in 1995. The company shows its collections at Paris Fashion Week.
Below, Ms. Harris wearing the brand in April 2021 as President Biden delivers remarks heralding the administration of 200 million vaccines.
The Vice President was in the Akris Punto Cap Sleeve Zip Front Dress ($995), a piece that is far more detailed than what you can see in the product photos.
The dress features topstitched princess seams, waist darts, a front half-zip with metal pull tab, an invisible back zipper, and cap sleeves. (More photos here.)
When questioning a witness appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee in December 2019, it looked like the Vice President-elect was wearing another Akris piece.
Then-Senator Harris appeared to be in the brand’s ‘Genaro’ Double-Breasted Wool-Blend Blazer ($1356, originally $3390). Made in a color called ‘Cherry Blossom,’ the 99% wool, 1% polyamide piece featured a slim fit with lightly padded shoulders, peak lapels, flap pockets, and six matching buttons. The style is from the Akris Resort ’20 collection.
The Vice President also wears a checked jacket from the Akris Punto line. Here you see her in the piece at an October 2020 rally at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida.
The Akris Punto Glen Check Blazer ($1490 originally, most recently selling at $596) is made in a blend of polyester/viscose/elastane. The single-breasted design features a one-button front closure, notch lapels, slit cuffs, and flap pockets.

At a December 2020 campaign rally in Columbus, Georgia, then-Vice President-elect Harris wore what looked like the Mara Stretch Jersey Pants ($395 originally, most recently selling at $156).
The trousers are constructed of a viscose/polyamide/elastane blend and feature a distinctive raised center seam that stops several inches below the waist. They remain available at Akris ($395) and an almost identical style is available at Neiman Marcus ($395).
Ms. Harris has worn a pair of similar sweaters by the brand.
Above left, you see her in a November 2019 video with Mindy Kaling as they make masala dosa, a South Indian dish. On the right, another cooking video, this one with Senator Mark Warner from April 2020.
On the left, the Striped Merino Wool Pullover ($595 originally, now sold out) in 100% merino wool, described as bold stripes making “…a graphic statement on this rib-knit wool sweater while accentuating the lean, figure-hugging fit.” On the right, the Yucca & Agave Stripe Wool Ribbed T-Shirt ($495, sold out) also a ribbed knit.
