The week started on a somber note as President Biden led a ceremony marking the 500,000 US lives lost to the COVID pandemic.
More from this PBS story:
The president ordered flags on federal property lowered to half staff for five days and then led the moment of communal mourning for those lost to a virus that often prevents people from gathering to remember their loved ones. Monday’s bleak threshold of 500,000 deaths was playing out against contradictory crosscurrents: an encouraging drop in coronavirus cases and worries about the spread of more contagious variants.
Addressing the “grim, heartbreaking milestone” directly and publicly, Biden stepped to a lectern in the White House Cross Hall, unhooked his face mask and delivered an emotion-filled eulogy for 500,071 Americans he said he felt he knew.
First Lady Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff took part in the ceremony.
Here is a 1-minute video from the event.
Tuesday, February 23, the Vice President had several public engagements. Here you see her with President Biden and Secretary of State Blinken as they participate in a virtual meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Ms. Harris also met with members of the Congressional Black Caucus, including Chairwoman Joyce Beatty, Congresswoman Nikema Williams, Rep Jahana Hayes, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries, and Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II. Below, an image from the Caucus Facebook page.
The Vice President was in a suit that remains unidentified; here you see it when worn on February 4th for a visit to the State Department.
Wednesday, February 24, the Vice President was in blue separates by Altuzarra. Here you see her at an oval office meeting with the President and members of congress.
The Vice President also did the swearing-in of the new Ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield. The Ambassador’s husband, Lafayette Greenfield, is seen holding the bible, and son Lafayette “Deuce” Greenfield II is shown in the grey suit.

Ms. Harris was there to help promote the administration’s Federal Retail Pharmacy Program for COVID-19 vaccination.
She wore her Altuzarra Fenice Jacket and Serge Trousers in black.

Ms. Harris swore-in Jennifer Granholm as the new Secretary of Energy. The Secretary is seen below with her husband, Dan Mulhern.
Friday, February 26, the Vice President made diplomatic phone calls.
She wore a grey jacket we’ve not previously seen with a shoulder vent effect, a dark turtleneck, and gold earrings. Among those she spoke with: Prime Minister Frederiksen of Denmark and President Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Saturday, the 27th, the Vice President was the keynote speaker at a virtual Black History Month celebration.
The event was hosted by House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD), and it marked the 40th annual celebration.
The Vice President was in a UFO (Unidentified Fashion Object) black blazer with patch pockets and notch lapels, a previously worn Dolce and Gabbana top, and what might be her Altuzarra ‘Luther’ trousers.
In this photo, you better see the lace detail on the top.
You can watch the entire program here via the House Majority Leader’s Facebook page.
One new ID of note this week: an Olivine Gabbro ensemble. You see then-Senator Harris wearing the ensemble at a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation prayer breakfast in September 2018. On her right, Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey.
